What is Petrobowl?
SPE Asia Pacific Petrobowl is a the 1st student petrobowl competition adapted from SPE International Petrobowl on SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition which will be held on Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference next 4-5 August 2009 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
It is scheduled to be annual student competitions for SPE Student Chapters in Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference along with Asia Pacific Regional SPE Student Paper Contest.
Petrobowl competition matches three-person teams from participating universities under SPE Asia Pacific Student Chapter against each other to answer questions ranging from the fundamentals of petroleum engineering to the history and current events of the oil and gas industry. All questions are to relate to the petroleum industry and/or petroleum engineering. They may consist of history, trivia, current events, technical questions, calculations and problem solving.
All SPE student chapters in good standing are eligible to compete. It allows students an opportunity to showcase their knowledge of the petroleum industry while proudly representing their schools at the Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference (APOGCE 2009).
The first 16 teams to respond will be guaranteed a spot. A minimum of 8 teams and as many 16 teams will be considered based on the number of schools interested in participating.
The competition is bracket style with single elimination rounds. The games will be single elimination in which two teams compete and the winning team (team with most points at end of the round) will advance to the next round. Each round divide into 2 sessions, toss up question and bonus question for each correct answers in toss up questions.

Registration Fees and Travel Funds
There is no fee registration regarding to participate on SPE Asia Pacific Petrobowl. All Participating teams are responsible for accommodation and transportation costs associated with getting to Jakarta, Indonesia for next 4-6 August 2009.
SPE Asia Pacific Petrobowl Committee does not subsidize nor sponsor teams. If financial assistance is needed your SPE section may be able to offer guidance for obtaining such support. We included an invitation letter for supporting you to endorse your local section to support for your accommodations and transportation to join SPE Asia Pacific Petrobowl and SPE Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference.
